The « Materials & Biology » team gathers chemists and biologists working together on the design of « living » materials. Our strategy relies on the integration of specific biological functions (self-organization, molecular recognition, enzymatic activity, cellular metabolism) within polymer, hybrid or inorganic materials with targeted applications in the field of biomedical materials, biotechnological devices and innovative processes for water treatment. 

Our work combines fundamental studies and engineering  approaches :

- In vitro studies of biomacromolecule self-assembly processes
- Integration of functional nanomaterials within biomolecular materials
- Biomimetic approaches of biomineralization
- Understanding of cells/materials interactions in 2D and 3D environments
