Applications thérapeutiques des ultrasons pour la reconstruction osseuse.

Clinical studies have established that the rate of fracture healing is accelerated by ultrasound stimulation. However, the underlying physical mechanisms of the biological effect of ultrasound are not understood. The first goal of our project is to understand these mechanisms and optimize the parameters of the acoustic stimulation in view of the different possible applications. Research is focused (i) on the analysis of the response of cells subjected to ultrasound stimulation, for which parameters are systematically modified (duration, frequency, intensity, duty cycle, etc.) ; (ii) on the potential effect of choc waves on the bone, in particular the generation of microcracks.
